What can your child expect at Bright Sparks? imageWhat can your child expect at Bright Sparks? imageWhat can your child expect at Bright Sparks? image
Bright Sparks is a small happy family charity run Pre-school. In the preschool we aim to provide a welcoming, supportive, caring, happy, secure and stimulating environment where children are given equal opportunities to develop and learn, in a way and at a pace appropriate to them as individuals.

During their time spent in the pre-school your child will be following the Early Years Foundation Stage framework (EYFS, 2017) achieving the Early Learning Goals by the end of their reception year.

The aims of the curriculum are to help develop the whole child and to place the foundation for a happy, confident, well-adjusted, independent and educated individual.

Your child will be encouraged to explore, question, reason and communicate – also to express his/her ideas and feelings through music, creativity and imaginary play.

Young children learn best through play and first hand experience, with this in mind structured and spontaneous play situations provide the opportunity for individual development in the seven areas of learning both indoors and outdoors.

At Bright Sparks we offer children the opportunity to take part in Forest School and Beach School. These are both inspirational processes that allow children to develop at their own pace. The sessions culminate in lunch cooked on an open fire. Our Forest School sessions are led by our qualified Forest School Leaders and take place at Northbourne Park School. Forest School offers the children the opportunity to explore and discover the natural world.

Our Beach school takes place at Sandwich Bay with rock pool investigations at Kingsdown. Beach School is led by our two qualified Beach School Leaders. Children have the opportunity to learn about the natural world and about staying safe near the sea, essential for children growing up in our beautiful seaside town.

We have an allotment where the children tend their vegetable plots and learn to take care of their chickens. This helps to instil in children care and concern for living things and the environment.

Our mini bus gives us the opportunity to take the children out and about in the local area, we have visited the beach, the castles, Pegwell Bay, Betteshanger Country Park, Quex Park Museum, The East Kent Ploughing match, the Lifeboat Station, Solleys Farm, Sandwich River trip and Quay.

We are building relationships with our local care home and children are visiting the clients to take part in activities. Research shows that both the young and the elderly benefit from these interactions.

Our mud kitchen is extremely popular and promotes all areas of children’s development.

Bright Sparks is part of the Preschool Playgroup Speech and language Service and children who need extra help with communication are supported by a Speech and Language Assistant who works with the children three times a week.

The preschool feeds all of the schools in the local area and we have developed strong links with our main feeder school Warden House and take part in activities throughout the year this supports children as they make their transition to big school.
In 2018 Kent introduced an award for Sustainable Development in Education based on the United Nations Goals for Sustainable Development. The award supports lots of the initiatives already in place at Bright Sparks and we are looking forward to completing the award with our children and families.
